| Dr. Leanne Hawken is an Associate Professor in the Department of Special Education at the University of Utah. Her area of research interest is positive behavior support, including school-wide behavior support, targeted interventions for at-risk students, and functional assessment/behavior support planning for students engaging in severe problem behavior. She is the co-author of the book “Responding to Problem Behavior in Schools: The Behavior Education Program” and the educational DVD “The Behavior Education Program: A Check-in, Check-out Intervention for Students At-Risk" which both document a research-based, Tier 2 behavioral intervention. Dr. Hawken has extensive experience in the area of behavior support and has served as a behavior consultant, behavior analyst, and school psychologist to support students with behavior problems. She also conducts research on early literacy and has consulted with schools and districts on how to implement Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) to improve reading outcomes. |
